Jordan Winery: The Ultimate Wine Country Lifestyle

Jordan Winery, located in Alexander Valley AVA in Sonoma County, produces beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, and they deliver much more than that at their winery. With so many wine tasting options in Sonoma, Jordan Winery stands apart from the rest by offering the opportunity to experience the luxury of wine country in an afternoon. It is a destination in of itself, offering unmatched food and wine pairing opportunities.  While visiting as part of the WBC17, I had the opportunity to taste the Jordan Chef’s Reserve Caviar by Tsar Nicoulai. The tasting experience paired five flavored caviars with glasses of Jordan wine, which includes Jordan Cuvee by Champagne AR Lenoble.  I had never had flavored caviar before, and was intrigued by the unique offerings, which included: beet saffron, ginger, truffle and wasabi.  The pairing enabled the caviar’s subtle flavor profiles to be paired with more diverse glasses of wine, include a Cabernet pairing. It was quite an unique and beautiful experience that I would love to try again.

Jordan winery’s facilities are gorgeous – the barrel room is filled with 12 giant historic oaks casks, large enough to hold 6,000 gallons of wine each. These casks are reminiscence of the barrels used in old world wineries of France. In fact the entire tasting house of Jordan is like visiting a wine country chalet in Bordeaux.

Their wines are beautifully blended and reflects the warmth of Alexander Valley; fruit-forward, with hints of baking spice, vanilla and leather.  During our dinner prepared by Executive Chef Todd Knoll, we had dishes such as Olive Oil Poached Alaskan Halibut paired with 2015 Russian River Chardonnay and Grilled Duck Breast with Olive Oil Confit, Chanterelles and Pomegranate Duck Jus paired with 2013 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Cheese and chocolate courses rounded out the extraordinary dinner.  Couple the wine, food, and ambiance with pristine service, and you have a once-in-a-lifetime experience of wine country luxury.
